Matthew 23:39 KJV
For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
I have recently been in conversation with a number of pastors on the subject of preaching. The question has been, "Does the Bible teach us how to preach?" I am of the opinion that the Bible not only teaches us that we should preach but also provides for us models on what is genuine Bible preaching. I would consider Matthew 23 one of those models.
The chapter can easily be broken into
An introduction (vs 1-12)
The sermon body (vs 13-36)
The conclusion and invitation (vs 37-39)
And the sermon ends with a reminder that Jesus is coming again and eternity is the goal.
