Fruit

Matthew 3:8 KJV
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

What caught my attention today is that the "fruits" mentioned here is called "works" in Acts 26:20. Our good works, our acts of Christian life and grace become a sort of fruit to the world before us.

Fruit is sweet to the taste
Fruit is healthy and nutritious
Fruit is refreshing

John insisted that those coming to him for baptism bring forth this type of fruit. His baptism was not merely religious but was symbolic of a genuine change that had occurred in the candidate. Without that fruit in their life, John had no interest in entertaining their desire to follow the crowds in yet another religious deed.

Christians are created unto good works. There should be within us
A sweetness
A healthiness
A refreshing way about us
That blesses those around us.
