Proverbs 22:19 KJV
That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
Our refuge is supposed to be in the Lord.
He is our confidence
He is our security
He is our hope
God makes known to us the truths of His Word so that we will have our trust in Him and Him alone.
It is so easy to place our trust in the wrong things
In the strength of a job
In the power of a man
In the money of the rich
In the counsel of the successful
In our own righteousness
Job learned that even his own righteousness (and he was a righteous man) was nothing to place faith in. Only the Lord is good and only the Lord deserves our trust.
