Glad

John 20:20 KJV
And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
The disciples had every reason, from a human standpoint, to be down hearted. Jesus was gone!
They had seen Him captured and tried
They had watched Him die and be buried
They had visited the now empty tomb and
They believed they would never see their Lord again

Certain sounds of hope had been heard. Some of the women claimed to have seen the Lord. And, they said, they had been instructed to tell the disciples they would see Jesus too. But still, this is hope against hope. This is the impossible far beyond hoping for. Could Jesus REALLY be alive?

Hopelessness turned to awe and then to gladness when they saw the Lord.

Our lives, too, can be filled with crushing defeats that seem to us there would be no way to reverse them. We can face challenges that appear to overwhelm us. But we, who are believers, will see the Lord. And when we do no sorrow here will remotely dim our gladness.
