No Honey

Leviticus 2:11
No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire.
The sacrificial meat offering was never to have leaven or honey but was always the have salt.

The purpose of sacrifice is to picture Jesus in whom is no sin, and therefore no leaven.

There was no mercy shown to Christ and therefore no honey.

Salt was of great value. It was used
• As a preservative
• As an enhancement of flavor and
• As a cleansing agent.
Salt burns in the wounds. Even so Christ suffered without mercy or relief. When he thirsted He was given vinegar and gall, nothing to quench His need. His wounds were the worst kind and His sacrifice was the most valuable ever made.

• Its effect is to cleanse away our sin and preserve us forever and
• Its result is a sacrifice well pleasing unto God the Father.
