His Power, Our Power

Acts 1:7-8 KJV
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

There is a contrast of appropriated power between this verse and the next.
Here is a power God the Father has reserved for Himself.
• It is not for us to know
• We have not been given the power to know
Try as we might, let the great minds of the faith collaborate: they will not discover the times or the seasons of the Lord's consummation of all things.

But we have received power from the Father, promised us and promise kept.
The Father has given us the power to be witnesses.

And this power must be our focus. God has not given us to figure out His times and seasons. But He has given us to be witnesses.

Shall we not then give ourselves to that which He has given us?
