And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
So much of Christianity today is about Jesus but without Jesus Himself. Here are three bands of believers:
• The women at the tomb
• The disciples on the road
• The apostles in the upper room
• Each of them has followed Christ
• Each of them had hoped in Christ
• Each of them was apparently talking about Christ
but until this moment,
• Each of them was missing Christ
Then Jesus Himself drew near. He:
• Expounded the Scriptures
• Opened their eyes and then
• Opened their understanding
This is what souls need today. This is the missing element in too much of Christianity; we talk about Christian things. We even talk about Christ. But our problem is that we are missing Jesus Himself.
