We Beheld His Glory

John 1:14 KJV
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

I focus on the phrase, "we beheld His glory."

The apostle is of course speaking of himself and those others that witnessed the life of Christ.
• Though Christ, in His earthly frame, entered the world through the same door as all humanity
• Though He was in all points tempted like as we are
• Though Jesus hungered, and grieved and experienced loss, yea
• Though Christ "learned … obedience by the things which He suffered"
they said they beheld His glory.

• His glory was not in His earthly successes
• His glory was not in miracles performed and seas parting before Him
• His glory was in His Person
and that it was full of grace and truth.
• His glory was that He declared the Father

And in just the same manner might we display His glory.
