Constant Explanation

Acts 14:15 KJV
And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

Paul and Barnabas had come to town to preach the Gospel and point souls to Christ. They had preached and they had healed a crippled man.

But their ministry had been misinterpreted. The fleshly and pagan minds of the citizens had not grasped the gospel. But they had latched onto the miracle and assigned to it a meaning that was opposite and abhorrent to the gospel.

And so must we be careful with our own ministries. The nature of the flesh, even among those who are saved, is such that it seems much easier to conceive the false thing behind the ministry instead of the truth.

Our task must not be to merely perform a ministry but to constantly explain the ministry clarify misunderstandings and ask questions to be certain that the message both of word and deed was properly understood.
