1 Corinthians 4:1 KJV
To possess that truth that
unlocks heaven to the lost is indeed an awesome stewardship. To be less than
faithful with this prize is irresponsible in the extreme.
Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards
of the mysteries of God.
Verse two is an oft quoted verse
but seldom in the context from which it is taken. Surely faithfulness is
required in any steward. But especially is it required in the one who stewards
the mysteries of God. These mysteries are the truths surrounding salvation by
grace through faith and upon the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ.
- They are mysteries because they were hidden
(though there) in the Old Testament and are revealed in the New Testament
- They are mysteries because they can only be
received through faith and
- They are mysteries because the largest number
of people never see them
