Hosea 11:1 KJV
When Israel was a
child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt .
It would
be very easy to miss that this verse is referenced in Matthew 2:15 as a
prophecy concerning Jesus Christ. It serves to remind me that tucked away
throughout the Old Testament are lessons about the Lord. To read the Old
Testament properly one must read it as a search for this treasure that is
Jesus.
- Everything else is secondary
- Everything else is perfunctory
- Everything else is trivial
compared
with the picture of Jesus that is drawn through the Old Testament Scriptures.
