All on a Sabbath

Genesis 2:3 KJV
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

To possess the blessing of God is a truly marvelous thing. To possess His blessing is a source of
  • Joy
  • Assurance
  • Confidence in the future

To be blessed of God implies
  • Usefulness
  • Testimony and
  • Success in endeavor

When an object is blessed it implies separation from usual function.

But here we find that God blessed a day. It is not even a tangible object. A day is the most indestructible of things on this planet. It is not eternal because it was created and it will one day no longer exist but it has endured six thousand years of human history and is nothing the worse for the wear.

Imagine the things a Sabbath has seen. Millennia of
  • Births
  • Deaths
  • World events and
  • Battles
all on a Sabbath.

They come and go so successively that we hardly think of them except as a day off or a mark on the calendar. The New Testament issued in a different day for worship but did not negate the particular blessing of the seventh day.

I will arise this Saturday and rejoice in a day both created blessed of God.
