Called and Sent

Matthew 10:5 KJV
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

Jesus had no sooner called the twelve than He commissioned them on their first expedition into the cities and villages of Israel. His orientation lesson to them would have left them with little doubt as to what life as a follower of Christ would be.

While everyone needs time to grow and learn, it is inconsistent with our faith to hide from people the general thrust of what life as a Christian will be about. The practice of organizations such as the Seventh Day Adventists of mailing campaigns to invite people to prophesy lectures but conceal from people who it is who will be teaching those lectures is as dishonest and unchristlike as their organization.

Jesus said He would reveal to the disciples things in the dark. I believe He is referring to their prayer closet. He would speak to them in the quiet moments of life but they were to them reveal those things to everyone.

We ought to have substantial visits with the Lord in the quiet moments. But our faith must be public and on display the rest of the time.
