The Hope of Israel

Acts 28:20 KJV
For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

Paul told the Jews in Rome that it was for the hope of Israel he was bound. Jesus is not merely the hope of the Christian and not just generally the hope of the world, Jesus is specifically the hope of Israel

That people so long ago called out from out of the world to be a blessing to all nations
  • Needed a hope
  • Needed a blessing
  • Needed a Saviour
Paul, who was called to be a preacher among the Gentiles, never forgot that the gospel was given first to the Jews. Though he fervently served to win Gentiles to Christ he was forever anxious to win whatever Jews he could as well. Being in Rome, he began his work by carefully expounding to them from the Scriptures why Jesus was their promised Christ. He offered the hope of Israel to every man he could.
