Doctrinal and Practical

Acts 17:3 KJV
Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

The message Paul is said to have preached (this is not one sermon but a series of messages designed to convince his audience) was twofold:
·       That the Christ promised in the Word of God would of necessity suffer death and rise again.
·       That Jesus, whom Paul preached is that Christ of the Bible.

Notice the two facets of the message; there is doctrinal teaching as he opens the Word of God and exposed his congregation to its message. Then there is practical application as he point to Jesus as the answer and fulfillment of that doctrine.

Men need doctrinal truth in order to make sound practical application.
