Luke 18:1 (KJV) Always Pray

Luke 18:1 (KJV)
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
It is significant that Jesus taught them always to pray and not faint.
  • It isn’t ally to work and not faint
  • It isn’t always to win souls and not faint
  • It isn’t always to plant churches and not faint
Jesus specifically said always to pray.
I think the reason is clear, praying without fainting will prevent fainting in the others but a person might continue in the others without praying, indeed many have done the very thing!
Prayer places the dependence upon the Lord in a demonstrate-able, but not duplicatable[1] manner. We can do all the other without prayer but you can’t really pray without praying.
  • Prayer requires we stop working.
  • Prayer insists that we slow down.
  • Prayer depends on God and not industry for answers.
Our day could never be considered more difficult than their day and Jesus’ counsel for them in their difficulty was to pray.
Prayer would be the best course of action for us too.
[1] I mean by this that no other action duplicates the same dependence upon God as does prayer.
