Proverbs 28:26 (KJV) Don’t Trust Your Heart

Proverbs 28:26 (KJV)
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
The world in which we live is so mixed up! For all practical purposes they think opposite of God’s counsel. This verse demonstrates just one instance of that.
Our world is quick to tell people, trust your heart. A quick web search today revealed:
  • An album by Judy Collins, released in 1987 called Trust Your Heart[1]
  • A personal coach who claims, when you trust your heart, you find power[2]
  • A book entitled, Trust Your Heart: Building Relationships that Build your Business[3]
God’s Word frankly tells us that to trust your own heart is to be a fool. Untold damage has been done through someone trusting their own heart rather than walking wisely.
  • Marriages have been destroyed
  • Families have disintegrated
  • Churches have been split
  • Friendships have devastated
and more, all because someone chose to trust their own heart instead of true wisdom.
God has given us the wisdom of His Word to guide us through the murky waters of heart matters. There is the counsel of godly friends and the leadership of our pastor that can aid us in walking wisely when our own heart would deceive us.
Only a fool trusts his own heart.
