Acts 27:15 (KJV) Praise God For One Who Still Believes

Acts 27:15 (KJV)
And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
If we think of:
  • the sea as the course of human life,
  • the ship as the vessel which carries us across that course and
  • the storm as the raging opposition of our adversary the devil
then we see a type in this chapter of the calamity that we find ourselves now in.
Men have, against all the counsel of God, set sail into waters God never intended man to be.
  • Immorality
  • Licentiousness
  • Debauchery
  • Drunkenness and drugs
are a small sampling of the waters ill advised men have run themselves into.
Now the storms of these waters have grown so fierce we know not how to navigate them. We have let loose the rudder to be driven wherever those storms will take us. There seems to be:
  • no direction,
  • no compass,
  • no instrument
with which to find salvation.
Praise God He has not lost us. In the midst of the worst times we may thank God there is
  • One person still who believes God
  • One person who hears and obeys His voice
  • One person who bends the knee to pray for His grace
If this picture holds up then we may also take comfort that the storm did not ruin them, though nearly so. They were driven to a place of safety.
