Philippians 1:17 (KJV) Defending the Gospel

Philippians 1:17 (KJV)
But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
Paul, the Bible says, was “set for the defense” of the gospel.  There were at least three ways I know he defended the gospel:
In his preaching of itWhen Paul got saved he immediately dedicated his life to tell others about the gospel.  The most powerful means of witnessing is to passionately tell your own story of what the gospel means to you.
In his suffering for itThe Word set means “appointed.” It come from a term that means “to lie outstretched.” It is the idea of being totally exposed and vulnerable. Sacrifice everything for the gospel.
In his death because of itPaul believed he might be released from his prison cell but even if he wasn’t, and we know he wasn’t, in giving his life He defended the truth of the gospel as surely as the soldier who dies on the field did not do in vain. His death defended his country.
