Mark 10:21 (KJV) Are You Lacking Something?

Mark 10:21 (KJV)
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
The thing about good works is that the doer will always lack “one thing.”This rich young ruler had done all he knew to do, all he could do. Yet he knew he had not yet inherited eternal life.
He recognized Christ as good and even as a master.
He came, I believe, sincerely. But he left sadly because he still lacked the one good thing that would have earned him eternal life. If he had sold all that he had he would still have lacked one thing. The key to the passage is not the selling of goods but the following of Christ.
As long as you are looking for some good thing to do to earn eternal life, you’ll never do enough.
As soon as you make Christ your all, you’ll never have a problem doing that good thing again.
