Malachi 2:10 (KJV) Spiritual Treachery

Malachi 2:10 (KJV)
Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?
The covenant is obviously speaking of the relationship of Israel to God. They had done a treacherous thing, not by turning from that covenant but by making it ordinary, common and worldly. They had turned a walk with God into a mere religion in which, though they required much out of its followers, they devised means to make it cost as little as possible for themselves.
Charles Spurgeon called it a downgrade.
These days it is realized by professing Christians who:
  • Know nothing of the Bible
  • Spend no time in prayer
  • Have no standard of separation
  • Make no distinction between themselves and the world
  • Withhold no worldly pleasure from their enjoyment
Whatever our spiritual fathers taught them, those fathers, they believe, were legalistic and wrong. They turn from the covenant of our fathers, sometimes because it was the covenant of our fathers (they desire to “negotiate” their own covenant with God.)
It is treachery.
Spiritual treachery.

I am amazed how some folk reading from a doctrinal text don't question and find the answers to the truth of God. They spout information that down grades the finished work of Jesus , by exulting human kind and giving the impression we all can be saved if we are sin free or practice keeping the law or practice uber grace or wear the right blessed clothes. Faith alone for salvation with Christ's shed blood over our fallen nature. Big Amen Solo Biblica
