Genesis 42:1-2 (KJV) A Man of Decision

Genesis 42:1-2 (KJV)
Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another? And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
Jacob had his faults, but he was a man of decision. His industrious nature had made Laban wealthy as well as making himself wealthy. Years had likely slowed his body down but not his mind. There was a need and he knew exactly what to do.
He had heard that there was food in EgyptLikely he had searched for this information. His industry had motivated him to discover what answers existed for their dilemma.
He put his boys to work on itHe did not send servants. He sent men with authority and influence. They had been “twiddling their thumbs” sitting around staring at each other and making no progress. Jacob got them up and active for an answer.
He understood the inherent dangersHe chose not to send Benjamin lest a negative happens. While danger should not prevent action, good sense says that steps must be taken to protect our families and assets while also going after solutions.
