1 Samuel 24:12 (KJV) Better To Love

1 Samuel 24:12 (KJV)
The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
David appeared to have the opportunity to avenge himself of the evil he had endured under Saul. He even had people urging him to do it. David chose instead to leave the vengeance to God.
Looking at the account historically we know that God did avenge David. We also know that it was difficult for David to keep unity in Israel as it was. It would have been that much harder had he given the followers of Saul a reason to be bitter.
It is always better to love people. If they have cause to be judged, God will surely address that on His own.
