2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV)

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

This passage belongs exclusively to the child of God, as it speaks of the judgment seat of Christ, not the great white throne judgment. It is true that both the saved and the lost will stand before God in judgment—a truth that deeply unsettles the lost—and that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. But we will not all be judged in the same hall.

The saved, whose sins have already been judged in Christ, will appear before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account—not of our sins, but of the use of our faith. In this light, the terms good and bad are not measures of morality, but of service. I would suggest they are not measures of the quantity of service, but of its quality.

They are gold, silver, and precious stones versus wood, hay, and stubble. They are fruit that remains rather than grass that springs up quickly and withers away.

Recognizing that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ is a safeguard against fast products, quick fixes, and service performed for show.

We have been given this body, and we are called to use it. The key is to use it to glorify the Lord—and not ourselves.
