Psalms 35:7 (KJV)
For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.
This is a Psalm of David in which he says three times that the enemy’s accusations and attacks were without cause.
I know for a fact that David was not innocent of all sin. I know, in fact, that David was guilty of some terrible sins. In fact, I know that God held David accountable for these sins and that David , in fact, suffered the consequences of some of them for basically the rest of his life.
And still, he could write, under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost of God, that these accusations were without cause.
Here’s the lesson. There is no cause the enemy can claim against us that hasn’t been dealt with in Christ. And, in fact, they themselves could be accused of similar sins. The One who ought to, and will, address our sins is Almighty God.
So no enemy has cause to attack us.
And we have no real cause to attack another.
It’s as simple as this: plead your cause before the Lord. Let Him be your shield, buckler, and spear. Let Him stop those you perceive to be your enemies. Let Him be your salvation.
And let your tongue “speak of [God’s] righteousness and … praise all the day long.”

When Others Accuse You, Let God Defend You: Finding Justice Through Jesus Christ
Stop Fighting Battles That Belong to God!
Your accusers need the same mercy you do. In Christ, you are justified, and the Lord is your shield, buckler, and spear!
Rather than wasting your strength fighting those who oppose you, plead your cause before Almighty God. Trust Him to defend you, and let your words be filled with His praise.
