Confused Fidelities

Acts 6:14 KJV
For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

In their own minds, one of the most damning accusations against Christ and His followers is that He would "change the customs which Moses delivered us." To be sure, what Moses had delivered them was monumental and world changing. However;
·       It was only a portion of the message of God
·       It had been corrupted by the religious leaders of the day

I believe it is essential to the faith that we "be not removed" from those truths given us, both in doctrine and in practice. I am convinced that to contend for the faith necessitates we stand for bible doctrines and Baptist convictions. There is another side ton this teaching that I would hate to ignore. On the other hand I have also witnessed people who cling to customs, somebody the spiritual and some of them historically life changing, and they do so to the damnation of their soul and of those they love.
·       It may be a loyalty to a particular denomination
·       It might me an insistence to a specific church
·       It could be support of a movement that family has historically been associated with.

In some cases that denomination, church or movement no longer stands where they once did. In other cases, that denomination, church or movement was never fully what it should have been. But in any case out allegiance and loyalty is to be toward Christ and not a favorite custom. The Word of God is to be our directing guide and not something, no matter how historically important it is or once was.

Be careful not to get your fidelities confused.
