Mark 12:6 (KJV) The Bible’s Clear Answer

Mark 12:6 (KJV)

Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

For those who are perpetually naysayers, I can hear their objections:

  • “This is a parable, and therefore not true—you can’t base doctrine on this.”
  • “How can you be sure the Father represents God and the Son, Jesus?”
  • “You’re reading into the parable that the father had only one son.”

Naysayers can always find objections. Their faith demands it.

But to the simplest believer—those of us who take the Word of God as literal and read it from the historical-grammatical sense, as we would any other reasonable correspondence—this text is so very plain.

The parable demonstrates the historical account of Israel’s rejection of God’s prophets, culminating finally in their crucifixion of Christ. The father is, in fact, representative of God, and the son represents Christ.

Here’s the point I’d like to make: God has but one Son, Jesus Christ.

  • Not two sons, as the Mormons believe.
  • Not just a prophet rather than the Son, as Islam teaches.
  • Not multiple sons and various ways to salvation.

There is but one “only begotten Son.”

Jesus Christ is who He claimed to be—“the way, the truth, and the life.”

Indeed, “no man cometh unto the Father but by [Him].

The Bible’s Clear Answer: Only One Son—Only One Way

💬 The Bible is clear — Jesus Christ is not one of many, He is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16).
But in a world full of competing voices, are you sure you know what God’s Word actually says?

Mark 9:3 (KJV) White, Whiter than White

Mark 9:3 (KJV)

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

White, whiter than white.

So much of our understanding of life depends on our experiences. We only gauge a thing by the instruments at our disposal. We can only compare a thing to what we know. We can only create a thing with the materials in our hands.

We can never, on this earth and in this life, imagine God as He truly is. We simply don’t have the tools to do it.

Imagine white—whiter than any white.

White is the absence of any other color. There is no such thing on this earth. Every white has some measure of off white. God, on the other hand, is without corruption. God is without change. God is without limitation. God is without fault. God is without rival. God is without equal.

You get the point.

He is more pure than we can suppose—more pure than we can describe.

The fuller’s job was to whiten cloth. He used bleach or whatever means he had to soften, fill, and remove residual color. Yet his work was never perfect—never absolutely without color. Even so, man cannot fashion a religion so near to God as to rival the simple relationship we have with Jesus Christ.

As limited as we are in our comprehension of God, the wisest decision is to stop trying to comprehend Him, invent ways to reach Him, or mimic Him—and instead simply do as He said,  and trust Him.

White, whiter than white: Only in Christ

✨ Want Bible answers that go deeper than opinion?
When Jesus shone “exceeding white as snow,” it revealed more than light — it showed His perfect, sinless nature. No human effort, no religion, no “fuller on earth” can compare to His purity.

Mark 8:12 (KJV) The Sigh That Shook Heaven

Mark 8:12 (KJV)

And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

What depth of humanity we see in our Saviour. Surely He knew why that generation sought a sign. He was aware of the hardness of their hearts—the obstinacy of the Jews in general, and the Pharisees in particular. Still, He was affected by such a lack of spiritual heart on their part.

Matthew Henry expresses it thusly:

“The infidelity of those that have long enjoyed the means of conviction, is a great grief to the Lord Jesus; it troubles him, that sinners should thus stand in their own light, and put a bar in their own door.”

  • Jesus died for us while we were yet sinners.
  • Jesus died for all men, so that all could be saved.
  • Jesus died knowing that vast multitudes—yea, the greatest majority of men—would refuse the salvation He died to provide them.

He died for them anyway.

And He is deeply grieved for all of those who never are saved.

The Sigh That Shook Heaven: God’s Heart Broke for Unbelief

Are you searching for real Bible answers?
Jesus sighed deeply when people demanded a sign instead of trusting His Word (Mark 8:12). Faith isn’t built on miracles—it’s built on knowing Him.

👉 Why do you think so many people still look for “signs” today instead of simply believing God’s Word? Share your thoughts below!

Mark 7:8 (KJV) God’s Word Alone

Mark 7:8 (KJV)

For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

These days, doing more of the work of an apologist, I frequently hear from Catholics that tradition is both biblical and valuable. They cite, of course, those passages where the Apostle Paul speaks of tradition. Their argument is that the Bible could not possibly be considered complete enough to answer all things pertaining to life and godliness—that the church is God’s resource to make up the lack—and that this is done through tradition.

The result is that the traditions of their church take on authority equal to, and I would argue greater than, the Bible. (My observation has been that most of them don’t obey their traditions any more than they obey the Bible.)

Jesus makes this plain to any who have eyes to see and ears to hear. The Jews—just as the Catholics do today—had made their traditions override the Bible.

The traditions Paul spoke of are the Word of God. He was used as a penman of the Holy Spirit. That cannot be said of any pope or church council.

Therefore, the Catholic Church is guilty of a sin identical to the one Jesus condemned in this passage.

I stick to the Bible. I am convinced that in it we find answers to all things that pertain to life and godliness—if we are willing to rightly divide and then obey it.

That’s the rub! We usually just don’t want to obey it.

God’s Word Alone: Tradition Can’t Outshine the Bible

📖 The Bible or Tradition—Which Do You Follow?
Jesus warned that people often “lay aside the commandment of God” to keep manmade traditions (Mark 7:8). Many today trust church rules, rituals, or leaders more than God’s Word.

Mark 7:8 (KJV) God’s Word Alone

Mark 6:12 (KJV) Still the Message

Mark 6:12 (KJV)

And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

Albert Barnes notes three reasons why men should repent:

  • Because sin is evil.
  • Because the Saviour (Messiah) has come.
  • Because it is fit to receive Him.

Whatever else the Christian ought to be known for, he ought to be known for this — that we preach that men should repent.

Sin is no less evil today than it was when Christ dwelt among men. I am hesitant to say that sin is worse now than then, or even that it abounds more now than then. But I am quick to say it certainly isn’t better now. We must preach that men should repent — to turn from sin and to Christ.

Our Saviour has promised to come again, but the next time there will be no time to repent in His presence. Next time He comes as a thief in the night, to catch away those who are saved. Next time He comes suddenly, in the twinkling of an eye. Next time He comes when no man knows the day or the hour. We must preach that men should repent because Christ’s coming is imminent.

There is no more fitting thing a man may do than to turn and receive Christ. It is righteous, holy, good, honest, and virtuous. It is the reason for our existence. It is of such better character than any other life choice as to have no comparison.

Until we are received into the presence of God, we struggle with our own corruption and with a veiled comprehension of eternal things. We can never be known as perfect. We can’t make men do as we think they ought. But we can—and must—preach that men, all men, should repent.
