John 20:16 (KJV)
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
The resurrection of Christ radically changed the world because it radically changed the disciples.
John 20 is filled with the stories of those closest to Jesus. They loved Him, trusted Him, and believed in Him. But when He was dead, they thought their dreams had died with Him.
They still loved Him. They intended to care for His body, but they never imagined they would do anything else. When the stone was rolled away and they found the grave empty, their concern was, "Where have they taken Him and laid His body?"
- Peter and John ran to see.
- Thomas doubted.
- But after Jesus showed Himself alive by many infallible proofs, they were transformed.
And they changed the world.
I believe churches today are filled with people who love, trust, and believe in the Lord—just as the disciples did before the resurrection.
If we are ever to impact our world, we must know the resurrected Christ.
