John 8:11 (KJV) Go and Sin No More

John 8:11 (KJV)

She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

It’s easy to focus on the first part of the verse: Neither do I condemn thee.”

What a blessing! Jesus—Emmanuel, God with us—had no condemnation for this woman taken in adultery. He had come precisely to take away the sins of such as she.

She was forgiven.

However, we must also face the second part of the passage: Go, and sin no more.”

That’s a command. I’ll go further—it’s an impossible one. Just as all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,[1]if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.[2]

God saves and forgives us freely, without any good works of our own. He redeems us through the gift of the Gospel of Jesus Christ—He paid the debt we could not pay.

But there is an expectation: repentance, a new creature, unto good works.

But how?

John 8:32 (KJV)

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:34 (KJV)

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

John 8:31-32 (KJV)

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Forgiven and set free from sin’s service.

Go and Sin No More: Grace and Obedience

[1] Romans 3:23 (KJV)

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

[2] 1 John 1:8 (KJV)

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

What will you do with the truth? Jesus not only forgives—He commands us to live differently. Obeying “Go, and sin no more” isn’t optional, but how do we take real steps toward it? Identify one sin that keeps you in bondage and eliminate the temptation. Block the website, cut off the unhealthy relationship, throw out the addiction—whatever it takes, do it now. Then replace it with time in God's Word and an act of obedience.

Tell me, what step will you take today to walk in freedom?
