A Blood Gift

Leviticus 17:11 KJV

For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

God said He gave us the blood not as a food but as an atonement for the soul.

Because of that, it was to be handled properly and the mistreatment of the blood led to being put out of the congregation.

The blood of sacrifices points to the blood of Christ

·      It has a specific function

·      It is to be treated reverently

·      Its abuse signals excommunication
