Acts 22:3 KJV
I am verily
a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this
city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the
law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.
There
is a kind of godly zeal that is best to turn from.
Paul
testified that they were zealous toward God. He even confessed that he was
once similarly zealous. Paul however had changed.
It
was not that Paul was no longer zealous but that his zeal had taken a new
direction since meeting Christ.
· The believers in
Ephesus were similarly zealous but had not been properly instructed
· Apollos was
certainly zealous but Aquilla and Priscilla were able to perfect his zeal.
I
praise the Lord for the zeal many have for spiritual things but freely insist
that zeal must be directed refined and sometimes completely re-directed.
