The Light Shined

Isaiah 9:2 KJV
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

This passage must be taken in connection with the promise of the coming Saviour who is prophesied in Isaiah 7:14, referred to throughout Isaiah 8, and then prophesied again in Isaiah 9:6-7. Israel walks in dimness because she rejects Jesus Christ. But when Christ came, and was not received of the Jews, the Gospel was then turned to the Gentiles. These people, who had walked in the darkness for centuries, were the ones who eventually grasped the light of the Lord and carried His message world-wide.

God broke the yoke of our burden
God removed the rod or our oppressor, Satan and
God gave us the liberating light of Jesus Christ

Our world today reminds me of
Isaiah 9:9-10 KJV
And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria,
that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

They don’t like Christ, so they make their own “hewn stones” and plant their own “cedars.” But Jesus Christ is still the only way, truth and life. Anyone who will come to Him will find light and find that His burden is light and His yoke is easy.
