2 Corinthians 3:13-16 KJV
And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
Israel was so stuck on the Old Testament (and their false interpretations of it) that they could not see the truths that were in the Old Testament nor could they recognize that Jesus is the Messiah they claimed to look for.
Before a person turns their heart to the Lord Jesus Christ there is a veil between them and the truth. They may hear the truth and even in some cases acknowledge it as true, but if the heart is not turned to Christ, they will not grasp the life-changing impact of the truth.
I noticed that it did not say that the person must turn to the Lord but that his heart must. I know people who claim to be believers, but their hearts are really set on the things of the world. Their love for the world becomes a filter between them and the Word of God so that they cannot get hold of how the God of the Bible could help them.
Our need today is to turn our hearts, our affections from this world and to the Lord. The more we do that the greater will be our ability to see the glory of the Lord.
