2 Corinthians 2:14 KJV
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
It is not that everything had been easy on the Apostle Paul. On the contrary, serving Christ had been the source of incredible pain, physically and emotionally. So this text should not be read to mean that Christians should always have visible and worldly types of victories in their lives. But Paul did say that God always causes, not just himself but "us" Christians, to triumph in Christ.
The work that the Christian does can seem small in contrast to all that is in this world, but that is a matter of relative position and not real truth. The sun appears little when we place our hand in the sky and can cover up the sun, but that is only because our hand is so much closer to our face than is the sun. We know the sun to be much larger than the planet we live upon. So the things of this world can appear grant, powerful and impressive while eternal things appear minute and trifle. It is only a matter of our position. And our position will change. Six thousand years of human history have demonstrated one indisputable truth; no one stays here. Every human being will face death and it is only after that we can know the real worth of our life's effort.
I'll trust the Bible. I will keep on living for the Lord and accept what might seem like such little victories here on earth as being huge triumphs when everything is said and done.
