Isaiah 53:1 KJV
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
The content of chapter fifty three ought to be taken as the continuation of fifty two verse fourteen; His visage so marred more than any man. It was then He was despised and rejected and we hid our faces from him.
The report that the prophet wants believed is that the death and suffering of the Saviour is the saving message.
We have missed the point, as did the Jews, if we only think of the Saviour in terms of riding out of heaven to destroy the armies of this world. And we can make that same mistake. We can forget the Cross for the second coming. There is no blessed hope in the coming of Christ until there has been time at the Cross.
• May we gaze into that crucified face before we gaze into heaven
• May we linger at the blood stained tomb before we go on to sing of victory
• May our hearts be broken at the price that was paid for our soul's redemption before we go away rejoicing that our sins are remembered no more
