Mark 13:2
And Jesus
answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be
left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
The apostles looking down at
Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, expressed wonder at the beautiful buildings
that constituted the Temple. Since their gaze was in that direction He paused
to let them take it in and then told them that there would be a day when it
would all be torn down and destroyed.
· It wouldn't just wear out
· It would be taken apart
Completely, violently
Jesus spoke first of the
destruction of Jerusalem under Titus in 70 AD but more importantly of the
destruction that would happen during the Tribulation judgment. Ultimately
everything of the earth will be melted with fervent heat when God destroys this
world to create new heavens and a new earth.
People today, Christians
included are too prone:
· To fall in love with
· To become impressed with and
· To invest their life into
earthly things that will one
day be thrown down:
· Completely
· Violently
Jesus said there is only one
thing on this earth that will endure forever (besides the soul of man), His Word. (Vs 31)
And it is in His word we
would be best to invest.
