2 Chronicles 11:4 (KJV) Obey His Word

2 Chronicles 11:4 (KJV)
Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.

This is a remarkable passage. Rehoboam had what men would say is every right to be angry. 

• Israel had rebelled and seceded from his authority
• They had killed Hadoram his treasurer and
• They had chased him out of their territory

Rehoboam came home to gather an army. He was intent on bringing these rebels to their knees. 

But then the preacher spoke to him, “Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up … for this thing is done of me …”

And Rehoboam and his men obeyed. Remarkable! 

May God give us the strength to obey His Word even when everything in us wants to accomplish our own will.
