Mark 15:36 (KJV) Misguided Expectations

Mark 15:36 (KJV)

And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

The foolish arrogance of men never ceases to amaze me. There hung the Son of God.

He had healed the sick, raised the dead, and calmed the storms. He had fed the multitudes, preached the Gospel, and prayed for their souls. The Sanhedrin had to hire false witnesses against Him. Pilate could find no fault in Him.

And yet, hanging there, an innocent man, their only interest was whether they would see some miracle, contrived from their own misunderstanding.

And so today, unbelieving, and wicked people cast accusations against Jesus Christ and His followers based on their misunderstandings of the Bible or the associations they have made between Christ and false Christian religions.

The Christ of the Bible is not subject to the worldly god called man. But He is the Christ. It is indeed foolish not to fall down before Him.
