Ephesians 2:6 (KJV)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

 

I have often thought that logic is an idol carved by men to personify the deity of the human mind. The first curse of the sin nature is to “be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Man, in his corrupted state, really thinks he knows what is right and wrong. The first order of business for the idol of logic is to do away with the true and living God. He, after all, is the only One capable of beheading our image.

 

Human logic can’t grasp this: those of us who are saved are  

·      Raised up (resurrected) in Christ Jesus and  

·      Seated together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  

It’s as if we are already there.

 

·      When God looks at us, He sees Jesus Christ.  

·      When God thinks of us, He thinks of us in heaven.  

 

We are justified.  

·       “Just as if I’d never sinned.”  

·       “Just as if I were already in heaven.”

 

It’s one of the reasons I am so certain of the eternal security of the believer. Those who are saved are eternally saved, for sure—forever. Why? Because they have already been raised up together and seated together in Christ Jesus.  

·     The lost person’s logic can’t grasp that.  

·     The religious person’s logic can’t grasp that.  

 

Here’s the real rub: because we still live in corrupted flesh, unless we let Jesus behead that logic idol, we’ll wrestle with it too.  

 

And as long as we wrestle with justification, we’ll struggle to behave as the justified.
