Daniel 3:2-3 (KJV) What Are the Effects of our Faith?

Daniel 3:2-3 (KJV)
Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
It was obviously impossible that every person of every realm under the dominion of Babylon be at this dedication. Representatives therefore were called. These rulers, governors, judges, etc., spoke for the people of their nations and acted in their behalf.
This compounds both the consequences and severity of the decision of the three Hebrews.
  • Their stand was a stand for all their nation,
  • Their compromise would have been a blow to all the Jews and
  • Their deliverance from the fire was a testament to the God of their brothers and sisters in the faith.
We contemplate less than we ought the far reaching effects of the practice of our faith.
  • When we compromise others are brought low
  • When we stand others are encouraged
  • When we endure trials others are emboldened
We can’t be Christians in a vacuum. To some extent every Christian represents other Christians.
