Who Cares Who Is The Greatest?

Matthew 18:1-3 KJV
At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The question which led Jesus to set the child in the midst of them was "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" The thought struck me, that would never be a concern with a little child. True enough, when a child reaches a certain age, they begin to get competitive with goads like, "My father is better than your father." But earlier on, children just don't seem to be like that.

Children, especially very little ones, are attracted to other little children. They do not concern themselves with whether they are
Male or female
Black or white
American or non American
Large or small

Children just like children.

What a wonderful life we could live if we stopped worrying so much about who is the greatest and simply lived to follow Christ! If we would stop evaluating and analyzing each other and spend our efforts examining our own faith in Christ we could change the world.

The world considers Christians judgmental, and we are. Too often we bite and devour on one another; stepping upon believer and no-believer alike as we climb our staircase to spiritual greatness.

I fear that we are going to get to heaven and find out what we considered great is loss and failure before the Lord.
