Genesis 21:1
And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
My focus this morning was on the words, "...as He had said..." and, "...as He has spoken."
What God had said was impossible from every human standpoint. Sarah herself had laughed in disbelief at what God had said. Abraham and Sarah had done wickedly (in the matter of Hagar) because they could not see how God could keep His promise.
And yet, here it was! God had done as He had said. Sarah had indeed given birth to a child, Isaac
Despite his old age
Despite that, it was passed the manner of women with her
Despite their sins of the past
Despite their disbelief in God's Word
God had done as He had spoken.
If only we would come to the place in our spiritual lives where we would trust what God has spoken.
His Word is true
His promises are sure
His direction is right
