Seeking the Lord

2 Chronicles 14:4 KJV
And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

2 Chronicles 14:7 KJV
Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

I like Asa's assurance in the Lord here. He had commanded the people to seek the Lord and now he boldly proclaims that the blessings on the land were because they had sought the Lord. Even later when an enemy did arise, Asa's confidence was not abated as in prayer he claimed, "...it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many or with them that have no power..."

Gill says Asa sought the Lord in the following ways
Set up his pure worship,
Reformed abuses in it, and
Removed idolatry from it, and
Closely attended to the service of the sanctuary
