Ezekiel 22:30 KJV
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
God said He sought for a man but found none. That is surprising since there were men like Jeremiah, Baruch, Daniel, and even Ezekiel. Obviously, God was not looking
For a spiritual man
For a speaking (preaching) man or even
For a surrendered man
There were men like that in Israel. There may not have been many, but there were some.
God was looking for a sinless man
And only Jesus Christ is that man.
Too often we call for people to be spiritual.
Too often we appeal for someone to speak up and "make up the hedge."
Too often we urge someone in our congregation to surrender their lives to "stand in the gap."
When the fact is, that is not what God is looking for and that is not what is needed today. The need of today, as it was in Ezekiel's day, and as it will always be, is for Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who "taketh away the sin of the world." No other one will do. No other one will help. No other one will suffice in the eyes of God.
Let's seek Christ.
