John 6:41 KJV
The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
Jesus had told them in verse 29 that the work of the Father was to believe in the One whom He had sent.
Here is their opportunity to believe Christ but they were stuck with one problem; they knew Joseph and Mary.
• They knew he had grown up not far from the very place they stood
• They knew His brothers and sisters
All they had to do was believe but "believe" isn't something we do. Believing is a gift from God. Jesus told them they could stop murmuring, the fact is some believe and some do not. And those who do believe do so because God has taught them.
All who are the children of God are such because they have been taught of God.
