Isaiah 7:3 KJV
Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;
God never wastes a word of Scripture.
So it is significant that He told Isaiah to take his son with him in this ministry.
Though not always, very often God uses families in the work of the ministry.
• The brothers of Jesus all seem to be very involved in the ministry, not as apostles but certainly as a pastor and as a writer of a New Testament book
• Aaron's children were to take up the priesthood after him
• David's family was to be the royal family and
• There was a school for the sons of the prophets
Not all preachers' kids turned out great.
• Samuel's sons were scoundrels
• Eli's sons were worse
The idea that the preacher's kid gets the ministry inherently then, is to be rejected.
But if the son of the preacher is qualified and the Lord has His hand in it, it is a great testimony for the work of the ministry to progress through generations.
May the Lord make it so among the McKenzie's.
