Isaiah 23:13 KJV
Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.
How many thousands of years have passed since these words were prophesied yet how little has changed in that part of the world. The mode of accomplishment has been altered.
• They now have tanks and planes and rockets to help them in the setting up and taking down of peoples and
• There were those 1900 years when the Jews did not occupy even a portion of the land
But still today, it is exactly as the Lord described in Isaiah.
• Israel is a there, surrounded by enemies
• No one the world around hardly supports them
• Neighboring countries ebb and flow in power against Israel
Everything is just as God depicts it through Isaiah. The one constant through all of history has been God's eye of love for this people. That constant provides all of the validity Israel needs. Though they have forgotten Him today, He has not forgotten them.
And my hope as a believer rests in God's plan to one day revive Israel. When God's promises to Israel are fulfilled, then will God's promises to all others be fulfilled as well.
