2 Chronicles 6:18 KJV
But will God
in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of
heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!
After Solomon had finished
the Temple and
had prepared it for service he considered all that had been done, looked at the
gold laced edifice, and said, "Who really believes God will live
here?"
·
All of the
effort
·
All of the
teamwork
·
All of the preparation
and
·
All of the
gold
Paled in comparison to the
magnificence of God. All the gold in the planet could not reflect the glory
that is God's.
And so we learn a powerful
truth; not to place our hopes in the work of man. This is not to say man must
not work, but that man must never place His eternal hope in that work.
God did in fact come to dwell
among men. The One whom the heavens could not contain “tabernacled” with us in
the Person of Jesus Christ.
And it is in Him we must
place our hope.
