Psalms
69:5 KJV
O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from
thee.
Barnes
"…however conscious of uprightness he might be in his
dealings toward people, yet toward God, he was a sinful man."
David here states a truth that is always right to keep
before us; God knows our foolishness and our sins. It serves no good purpose to
attempt to conceal them from Him. The only productive thing is to confess them
to Him.
I do not mean to say that since He knows about them we may
as well flaunt them and dwell in them, for we are taught to mortify the deeds
of the flesh. Ours must be constant war with the sins of the flesh. But to hide
from God that we are in this war is folly beyond sinful foolishness.
If we confess
our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
