Doesn't God Care?

Luke 10:40 KJV
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

I can think of one other time that a believer asked the Lord if He cared; "Carest thou not that we perish?" [1]

It is a Biblical fact that the Lord does care.[2] But the world can become so terrible a place that we often loose sight of His care. Whether it is
  • A natural disaster like the storm that hit the sea of Galilee or the one that hit New York City, or
  • That some other believer isn't living up to our expectations or
  • That the drift of this world is heading in a way that seems so obviously harmful and yet it refuses to hear the voice of the Lord.[3]
We can get so focused on the negative that we forget that God cares. We might even admit to believing God is in control, but deep inside not care for what we perceive to be His course.

The Lord does care. Our wisest place is to sit at His feet and allow Him to have His way.

[3] Our national elections were just yesterday and, from a Christian perspective, wickedness had the day. The most liberal of men were elected into offices around the nation, gay marriage was legalized in three states, including the one I live in, marijuana was legalized in Washington. As my oldest son said this morning, "We might as well name the West Coast New Sodom and the East Coast, New Gomorrah."
